What does European Institute of Innovation and Technology Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) and Widening tools have in common? The objective of the EIT RIS is to contribute to boosting innovation in European countries and regions that belong to the groups of ‘modest and moderate’ innovators (according to the European Innovation Scoreboard). This is the ambition of Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation under Horizon 2020 as well: with Teaming, Twinning and ERA_Chairs the project focuses on cooperation between more and less advanced European countries. Widening facilitates transnational co-operation between NCPs with an emphasis on sharing good practices and raising the general standards of support to applicants both from EU13 and EU15 and therefore boost innovation in the whole EU, just as EIT RIS.
