Concept note
The mobility element is an important component of H2020. It is widely present from the MSCA programmes, the various ERC grants, the Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation pillar, as well as in the COST Actions.
The mobility element of H2020 is of a multi-faceted nature, including traditionally researcher capacity building and inclusiveness measures, as well as dedicated schemes for making Europe a global host of excellent research.
Nowadays, mobility schemes are much more than researcher capacity building measures or simply attracting excellent researchers. They aim to bring value to the host organization and the region(s) concerned. They are about boosting innovation activities, enhance international recognition for the host organisation, promote interdisciplinary research, exploit the merits of industry-academia collaboration under the framework of smart specialisation.
The mobility element of H2020 as a value-adding element for organisations and regions contributes to the path of sustainable growth. It is worth sharing knowledge on drivers and barriers of European funding schemes that are aimed at institutional capacity building.
This workshop aims to highlight and share lessons learnt on selected mobility schemes that are aimed at institutional level. Session 2 of the workshop will be devoted in identifying how mobility programmes in H2020 can have a synergistic effect, especially with respect to widening countries. Group discussions will focus at producing recommendations for the European Commission as well as at national/regional level.
