The annual WIRE conference dedicated to European innovative regions took place this year in the Brainport Eindhoven region from 8 to 10 June 2016. This conference of the Directorate-General Research & Innovation serves as a prime event under the flag of the Dutch EU Presidency in 2016.
This year’s main them was The Power of Regional Innovation Ecosystems, under which four interlinked thematic Programme Lines were discussed:
- Strategies & Synergies
- The Art of Collaboration
- Global Value Chains
- Logic of Public Intervention
Each of these had its own speakers and sessions.
Speakers, panellist and participants had in-depth discussions on regional actions to stimulate innovation and competitiveness in a structural way, and on integrating place-based elements in excellence driven programmes.
The NCP_WIDE.NET project organized for the very first time under Horizon 2020 programme the brokerage event dedicated fully to Widening activities: Teaminig, Twinnig, ERA Chairs. One full day of round table meetings brought together key stakeholders from the whole of Europe and gave them an opportunity to meet up and discuss issues related to current state of play and future calls and opportunities.
